The Happiest States In The USA?

Personally, I found this of interest. Whether you tend to agree or disagree, I must admit that as someone who has traveled all over the United States and spent considerable time in a number of different regions, there seems to be some validity to the rankings.

Some examples...seeing my one home state New Jersey ranked at #25 was a bit surprising. #25 is not something to cow about - but given the seeming universal maligned reputation "Jersey" seems to garner, I find it somewhat vindicating. It's placement is exactly in the middle...average - whoopee! The part of NJ I inhabit(ed) is not nearly as gruesome as some may be inclined to believe. On the other hand, it's far from being my favorite state either. But seeing that it "outranked" 25 other states should give New Jersey Governor John Corzine some pause for celebration.

Interestingly enough, the overall quality of life in New Jersey outranked places like Florida(!), Pennsylvania, Nevada, South Dakota, North Carolina, and amazingly, "Dela-where?" (Oh and if you do happen to check out the results via the URL link at the end of this blog, get a load of the picture for the #45 ranked state, Indiana - says it all, right?).

As for the highest ranked states, I tend to agree with most of the results but am a bit taken aback that Utah takes the coveted #1 spot. But then again, I have had nothing but happy times in Utah and have found many of The Mormons who reside there to be well, happy congenial people with a solid work ethic. Seeing Colorado close to the top is no surprise and Hawaii doesn't really bring me any astonishment. Wyoming taking the #3 spot however may seem perplexing enough - only to realize that The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone National Park are both there...'nuff said.

Take it for what it's worth...or an amusing trivial distraction.
